Rolling Stone and PluggedIn.com Enter into Content and Technology Partnership
Deal Paves the Way for Rolling Stone News and Video Content to Be Featured on PluggedIn and for Rolling Stone to Utilize PluggedIn’s Proprietary High-Definition Video Player
SANTA MONICA, Calif.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–PluggedIn (www.pluggedin.com) announced plans today to add Rolling Stone (www.rollingstone.com) news and video content to its popular new entertainment Web site. PluggedIn will create a dedicated Rolling Stone channel, which will feature daily dynamic news and video content from Rolling Stone and exclusive content from the Rolling Stone vaults. In addition, Rolling Stone will be able to incorporate PluggedIn’s proprietary high-definition player technology into its own video initiatives on sites like MySpace. The technology enables Rolling Stone to showcase their content in high-definition format and allows for access to PluggedIn’s content library featuring more than 10,000 HD and broadcast quality music videos from Universal Music Group, EMI Music, Sony BMG Music Entertainment, and other major and independent labels.
“We’re excited to offer great new content to our customers from one of the premier names in entertainment,” said Jeff Somers, PluggedIn’s CEO. “We’re equally thrilled that Rolling Stone will be leveraging the proprietary player we’ve built into their initiatives across the Web - it’s a great validation of our technology.”
The Rolling Stone Channel on PluggedIn.com, which will launch in summer 2008, will feature daily dynamic news and video feeds direct from Rolling Stone. PluggedIn customers will find exclusive video footage of popular recording artists from the 40-year history of Rolling Stone, with many current videos delivered in PluggedIn’s signature HD format. The Rolling Stone Channel will also tap into Rolling Stone’s comprehensive archive of more than 7,000 artists, an extensive collection of exclusive photos and interviews, as well as Rolling Stone’s popular blogs.
“PluggedIn gives us an opportunity to show off Rolling Stone video content on an extraordinary platform, and to grow our audience,” said Nathan Brackett, deputy managing editor RollingStone.com. “We’re excited to work together.”
