TheStreet.com Launches Mobile Application for BlackBerry Smartphone Users

NEW YORK–(BUSINESS WIRE)–TheStreet.com, Inc. (Nasdaq: TSCM), a leading financial media company, announced today that it will provide BlackBerry® smartphone users with automatic and free access to the latest stock market news, investing advice, stock picks and quotes from its flagship site, TheStreet.com (http://www.thestreet.com). Features include:

  • Categorized content sections such as Latest News, Jim Cramer, Winners & Losers, Analyst Upgrades & Downgrades, and more
  • Personalized stock watch lists – where users can add or remove stocks to track daily performance
  • Quotes of the major indexes – The Dow, Nasdaq, S&P – and a quote search box for ticker price look-ups
  • Home-screen notification of new stories and updated content

Mobile technology leader Polar Mobile has developed an application for TheStreet.com, which is available for download on a range of BlackBerry smartphones from Research In Motion (Nasdaq: RIMM). The application allows users to access content much faster than browsing through traditional mobile Web sites. Full text content is automatically delivered and stored to a user’s BlackBerry smartphone; this immediate delivery enables them to easily access the content anytime, anywhere – even if they are without wireless coverage, as on a subway or airplane.

“When it comes to investors – from Wall Street professionals to regular consumers – nothing is more critically time-sensitive than stock market news,” said Bill McCandless, General Manager, Multimedia, for TheStreet.com. “A clear benefit to Blackberry smartphone users, this new mobile application will allow TheStreet.com’s vital, up-to-the-minute financial content to reach them more easily than ever.”

By leveraging address book integration on a user’s BlackBerry smartphone, the application provides popular viral features such as the ability to send an article to a friend and invite a friend to use the application.

“Polar Mobile is proud to partner with TheStreet.com to deliver timely and relevant content to their users, as it happens,” adds Gaurav Jain, Vice President, Business Development, of Polar Mobile. “Our robust platform combined with push publishing ensures that users continue to engage with TheStreet.com’s leading financial news when they want, where they want.”

To download TheStreet.com’s mobile application for free*, BlackBerry smartphone customers should visit http://m.thestreet.com on their handheld or through a Web browser and click on “Download Now.”
