SCHAUMBURG, Ill., June 18 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ — Motorola, Inc.
(NYSE: MOT) today announced that its Multi-Net Mobility(TM) solution can
now be configured and managed remotely over a wireless data network and now
allows wireless devices to access a virtual private network and back-office
applications from “hot spots” outside a vehicle.

Motorola Multi-Net Mobility, based on the standard Mobile IP protocol,
provides end-to-end data encryption for text, image and video applications
while operating across a variety of public and private networks, including
Motorola’s MOTOMESH(TM), ASTRO(R) 25 Integrated Voice and Data, ASTRO 25
High Performance Data (HPD) networks, or other wireless networks.

Multi-Net Mobility is a Mobile Virtual Private Network (Mobile VPN)
solution that maintains secure connectivity while users roam between
wireless networks and optimizes network performance. It supports secure,
interoperable, mobile data connections to meet the needs of users on the
move. Multi-Net Mobility is part of Motorola’s MOTOA4(TM) solutions and
services portfolio for mission-critical communications.

It was developed to address mobile connectivity and interoperability
needs across a variety of customer environments, including public safety
and government agencies, public and private utilities, and manufacturing
operations. The solution provides optimum performance and flexibility for
the demands of field users who often require mobile access to back-office
databases, rapid information sharing and multi-media functionality,
including video surveillance.

With the addition of the remote configuration solution, Multi-Net
Mobility now allows users to perform configuration updates remotely over
the wireless data network to keep field personnel operating in the field
instead of coming in for configuration updates.

Multi-Net Mobility also offers a Wireless Vehicular Area Network, which
creates a “hot spot” of coverage to allow users of portable wireless
devices around a vehicle to connect to the Wide Area Network.

“The addition of these features provides users of Multi-Net Mobility
with greater flexibility, ease of use and enhanced mobility through
broadband solutions,” said Girish Rishi, Motorola vice president and
general manager, Applications & Data Solutions. “With remote configuration
management and “hot spot” coverage, Multi-Net Mobility helps users improve
productivity, optimize performance, and share information in real time.”

With Multi-Net Mobility, roaming between wireless data networks is
continuous and transparent to the user, allowing application sessions to
remain open through network interruptions or roaming transitions, and
maintaining productivity without sacrificing security. When coverage gaps
occur, Multi-Net Mobility will keep applications running and then reconnect
them seamlessly, automatically and securely.

“The end-to-end security of Multi-Net Mobility is a key benefit to
users,” said Rishi. “The mobile virtual private network allows applications
such as video monitoring, location tracking, fingerprint identification and
database lookup to stay seamlessly connected while roaming securely across
multiple wireless networks.”

Multi-Net Mobility meets U.S. government and public safety requirements
with always-on authentication and encryption, regardless of the network
used. That means users can be certain that their data transmissions are
secure and protected.
