BRISBANE, Calif. and NEW YORK, May 29 /PRNewswire/ — Glam Media, Inc.,
(http://www.GlamMedia.com), the pioneer of vertical content networks and number
one in reach for women online with 35 million uniques in the U.S., today
announced the launch of the GlamTV Platform, a video distribution and
advertising platform for Glam’s network of 500+ premium web sites and
blogs. The GlamTV Platform is a flagship service that allows Glam to
package its content with ads for hyper-targeted audiences using Glam
Media’s Digital-Primetime(TM) technology. Media companies offering their
content at the launch of GlamTV include the web’s top destination for
entertainment and celebrity news, E! Online, including “E! News Now”
breaking news video updates, Sony BMG’s “Myplay.com,” CelebTV, Lifetime
Networks, TV Guide Broadband and Turner Broadcasting New Products Group’s
TheFrisky.com.
GlamTV offers brand advertisers an effective, one-stop partner for
delivering video brand ads on the Web to a highly targeted network of
focused sites. Agencies can create brand engagement using overlays, tightly
packaged adjacent ad spots, co-roll, mid- or pre-roll, sponsorships,
advertorials, and even full page GlamTV Big Screen takeovers. To ensure
hyper-targeting, Glam Media is launching its proprietary Glam Evolution for
Video ad server, which offers agencies and brands trustable services
targeted by primetime, placement, audience, content, categories, behavior
and brand engagement.
The GlamTV platform solves challenges for its publishers seeking
high-quality and rights-managed content tightly coupled with brand
advertising from top tier media companies. This enables Glam Media network
publishers to access content that is costly to produce and offers them a
new source of revenue through high-CPM sponsorships, display, video ads and
advertorials. Publishers can create custom TV channels, video sections,
personal playlists, and embed video players — creating valuable new brand
display and video ad inventory that media partners and Glam can sell.
For media companies, GlamTV increases their reach into highly coveted
audiences through Glam Media’s vertical network of trusted and influential
publishers, while controlling distribution and reach based on their needs
or distribution rights. GlamTV presents a range of options for media
companies — bundling content with advertising, offering new advertising
formats and advertorials, or using Glam brand and video ads. GlamTV is
focused on quality — simplifying the large amount of video available for
consumers on the Web to the top hits, and narrowed by vertical and
publisher channel.
“With the launch of GlamTV, we continue to execute on our vision of
extending our distributed vertical content network by providing video
content and monetization opportunities to publishers and offering media
companies a new way to distribute their content to Glam Media’s Network of
over 64 million uniques,” said Samir Arora, chairman and CEO of Glam Media.
“GlamTV was one of the early dreams of the Glam founding team in its very
first business plan, and I am excited to see it grow from seed to idea to a
powerful platform and valuable service.”
Glam Media’s publishers can access premium Indie video content such as:
interviews with real-life fashionistas from BeautifulStranger.com; the best
in fitness content from ExerciseTV.tv; cutting-edge entertainment reporting
for the urban audience from Kevin Frazier’s HipHollywood.com; expert advice
and green-living tips from Howdini.com; social video content and interviews
from MOLI.com; premium short-form episodic comedy, original scripted
series, and musical performances from Safran Digital Group; lifestyle
videos from UK-based Simply Media; smart videos about relationships from
TangoMag; video horoscopes from Tarot.com; vintage fashion footage from
VIDCAT.com; useful infotainment from VideoJug.com; and international
fashion and travel content from WatchMojo.com. Premium videos at launch are
available in Fashion, Beauty, Shopping, Celebrities, Entertainment, Living,
Health and Wellness Channels.
Through Glam Video’s partnership with Ooyala, a video platform company,
publishers will be able to leverage curated videos from Ooyala
(http://www.ooyala.com). In addition, Glam Media has partnered with Brightcove to
enable customers of the Brightcove Internet TV platform to distribute video
content through Glam’s network of 500+ publishers and highly targeted
audience. Glam Media’s Digital-Primetime(TM) technology will support the
serving of highly targeted ads either from Glam’s advertising partners or
the publisher’s advertising partners.
“GlamTV’s distribution model to Glam’s publisher network of focused
sites is the ideal platform for our television-quality videos and
up-to-the-minute entertainment news,” said Dana Golden, General Manager of
CelebTV.com. “Glam is the leader in style and entertainment content, and
the recognized number one web property for women. As our group of
syndication partners continues to expand, GlamTV will be integral in
helping to reach our core audience of women who value the original
celebrity news, fashion, and entertainment content that only CelebTV.com
can provide.”
“I am absolutely thrilled with the interactive benefits of premium
video content for my site,” said Allison Shain, publisher of
thebeautyshop.com. “With so many years in television advertising, I
understand the benefits of sound and motion along with the visual — it has
a much greater impact than just print for my readers and there’s additional
revenue opportunity for my business. GlamTV is a win, win situation all
around for my business and for my readers.”
Glam Media will selectively offer the GlamTV Platform as a service to
other high quality and targeted vertical network publishers not in the Glam
Publisher Network — opening up Glam Media’s highly regarded publisher
media services for the first time to independent publishers targeting
women.
Glam is also launching GlamTV Open API (GTV-API) code and examples in
Q3 on the web site developer.glam.com, in addition to select applications
that run on the GlamTV Platform such as Video Search, Filter Tools, Social
Comments and Ratings for Publishers and their audiences.
The Glam Publisher Network was formed in November 2005 with 12 initial
charter members and has grown over 4,000% to more than 500 web sites and
blogs today — making Glam the largest distributed vertical content network
and category leader in women today — with more than twice the reach of the
former leader iVillage/NBC. Glam facilitates the creation, launch and
building of businesses for its hundreds of publishers by allowing them to
focus on creating original content and engaging their audiences while Glam
Media provides an “ecosystem” to increase revenue by leveraging the
publishers’ digital content for advertisers worldwide.
Glam Media’s content network continues to experience significant growth
both in traffic to Glam-owned-and-operated properties and via the reach of
its publisher network of lifestyle websites and blogs. In April, Glam grew
to over 500 web sites and blogs in its publisher network, with a reach of
35 million uniques in the US-Media Metrix Top 16 Web Property and 64
million worldwide as reported by comScore. Glam Media’s highly select
network of publishers receives benefits from garnering premium advertising
rates, brand awareness and visibility. Glam Media offers superior brand
engagement and targeting opportunities through display and video
advertising, content syndication, advertorials, search and other
application services.
