2008 MTV Movie Awards Rolls out Red Carpet for the Next Big Thing: You

NEW YORK, April 17 /PRNewswire/ — Think you’re ready for your 15
minutes? Get ready to wrestle with the paparazzi as MTV
(http://www.mtv.com)and Mark Burnett Productions search for anyone with a
productive imagination but zero production dollars to take a chance at
winning their own MTV Movie Award with the “2008 MTV Movie Spoof Contest”
(http://www.mtv.com/ontv/movieawards/2008/spoofs.jhtml). Beginning today,
viral video gurus can submit original movie shorts parodying scenes from
films over the last year to one of their favorite UGC sites. The creators
behind the submissions with the most votes will be flown out to LA to
attend the 2008 MTV MOVIE AWARDS (http://www.movieawards.mtv.com)and a
chance to accept the coveted golden popcorn at the ceremony from the Gibson
Amphitheatre in Universal City, CA on June 1.
“The MTV Movie Awards is the only awards show that offers an
opportunity for regular Joes and Janes to rub elbows with megastars,” said

partnerships with key sites to create the ‘2008 MTV Movie Spoof Contest’
allow everyday viral video visionaries to share their twisted genius with
their film idols and peers around the world.”
By partnering with some of the most popular UGC video sites, MTV is
giving anyone and everyone with a creative vision their chance to shine in
a celeb-filled arena. Submissions and voting begins today on the following
sites: Photobucket (http://photobucket.com/contest/mtv), MySpace
(http://www.myspace.com/mtvmovieawards), Daily Motion
(http://www.dailymotion.com/group/SpoofToWin), Break
(http://info.break.com/static/live/v1/pages/sponsors/2008-mtv-movie-
awards/2008-mtv-movie-awards.html, Due to length of URL, copy and paste

(http://www.funnyordie.com/promos/mtv). The deadline for submissions on
partner sites is May 11th at 11:59pm EDT. One finalist from each partner
UGC site will move on to the final round on http://www.movieawards.mtv.com on May
19 where fans vote on who will become the winner of the BEST MOVIE SPOOF
Award. Viewers will have until May 26th at 11:59pm EDT to post their votes
on http://www.movieawards.mtv.com.
The 2007 MTV Movie Awards averaged a 3.5 P12-34 rating, up 9% versus
the previous year. On MTV.com, Movie Awards content reached 1.6 million
people a 68% gain over the previous year’s awards; and experienced triple
digit growth up 200% in visitors and over 300% in Movie Awards streams.
