SXSW Film Announces SXSWclick Winners, 2008 Festival Call for Entries

Austin, TX August 7, 2007 The South by Southwest (SXSW) Film Conference and Festival is thrilled to announce the winners for the 4th annual SXSWclick Festival, presented by Cellfish. In addition, the SXSW Film Festival has announced its �Call for Entries� for the 2008 event, taking place March 7-15, 2008 in Austin, Texas.
The winners of all five SXSWclick categories can be viewed now, on the official SXSWclick site: http://sxswclick.com. The one Grand Jury Prize winner is �Pierre� by Dan Brown. The one Popularity Contest winner, decided by over 1,000 online voters, is �Peterson�s Savings and Loan� by Will Elliott. The jury winners within each category are as follows: �Ubuntu� by David Serota (Really Real Shorts), �Peterson�s Savings and Loan� by Will Elliott (Old School Shorts), �Pierre� by Dan Brown (Animate-It), �Always Near� by Andrea Giacomini (Sound Checks), and �The Timebox Twins� by Tipper Newton (What the F*#!?). The jury included actor Kal Penn (The Namesake), filmmakers Bob Odenkirk (Mr. Show) and AJ Schnack (Kurt Cobain About a Son), bloggers Agnes Varnum and Violet Blue, as well as many others. By winning SXSWclick, each of these shorts win a variety of prizes, and are automatically invited to screen at the 2008 SXSW Film Festival.
The SXSW 2008 �Call for Entries� is now open. Filmmakers are invited to submit their new works to the annual festival, which has become an international destination for cinematic discovery. Submissions can only be entered via the official SXSW Web site: http://sxsw.com/film. Complete submission rules and regulations are available on that site. The early deadline for submissions is November 16, 2007 and the final deadline is December 7, 2007. SXSW considers any and all categories of filmmaking, from Narrative to Documentary, Experimental to Music Video, Short to Feature. The festival will announce its complete film lineup in early February 2008.
